About the artist: Paul Tillinghast was born in 1954 in Bristol, Connecticut and his early years were spent in Maryland near Washington, D.C. He currently lives in New York City where he works as a commercial photographer and artist. Paul began exploring photography as a teenager and was self-taught. Paul is most inspired by Ansel Adams and the Zone System. Paul's celebrated early works included prints of circus performers. Paul is currently exploring photo manipulation and this piece is a result. Each piece begins with a photo before it is printed on canvas and built upon with polymer and found objects.
Paul's earlier black and white prints have been collected by the Corcoran Gallery of
Art Washington, D.C. and Erie Art Museum Erie Pennsylvania. He currently shows
Marion Royael Gallery in Beacon New York and W22 Galeria in San Jose Costa
