About the artist: Jon Buko draws inspiration from people who make an impact on the world around them, using their likeness, surrounding detritus, and experiences in his work. He says, “These moments, inspirations, and objects develop beyond face value as I put them on canvas and into a different representation of life. One of my biggest goals is to create a balance in whole piece—not just a stencil image and some filler.” He focuses on creating dynamic images that readily translate the excitement and energy he culls from these sources of inspiration. Nashville Walls Project,Native Magazine, Unique Automotive, Sky Blue Café, and Phat Bites (to name a few) have commissioned murals from Buko. He was named Nashville RAW Artist of the Year in 2012, , was the resident artist at HOTBOX Fitness. He’s raised $13,000 for charity in the last three years by selling and donating his work, including participating in Betsy Johnson’s 2012 Pink Trash Ball in downtown Nashville. Solo shows include "An Exercise in Patience"(2015) at gallery Luperca. Self curated show "Ghosts" 2017 "No Time for a Show Title"(International group show)(2016) at Tinney Contemporary as part of Nashville Walls Project. A plethora of other group and solo shows as well!
